I had bad experience and I will never, ever step into Jake’s store again. Don’t purchase anything from American Furniture Warehouse. Their warehouse manager tried to force me to take furniture that was built poorly. I took some chairs back to the store and the warehouse manager told me to take bad chairs. I have never been so insulted while purchasing product from a store. I will be sure and tell every person I have a chance to tell this story. I will never walk into American Furniture Warehouse again and I highly recommend you don’t make the same mistake I and other have made.

DON’T PURCHASE FROM AMERICAN FURNITURE WAREHOUSE!

Although they have a wide range of items, most items are not worth their cheap prices. I bought a bedroom set and once it was delivered, there were a few things wrong with it. The drawers on the women’s dresser are hard to pull out, scrape the wood and squeak. The bed had railings underneath that were broken and the bed sagged in the middle because of the frame. When AFW sent a rep out, he blamed me on breaking the railings. If fixed the squeaks and said he could not do anything about the drawers being hard to pull. I got the impression that he thought it was normal and why was I complaining. They would not do anything about the broken railings under the bed. My husband put new boards up, we put a sheet of plywood under the mattress to try to straighten the (new) mattress that we bought at another place and are just living with the furniture. I also bought to different kind of end tables that were both scratched and one was dented on the side like it was dropped. Those I returned to the store. I will not be buying anything else from them. You can get higher quality furniture (will cost more) online or at other stores.

AFW totally sucks!! you are right. I have called customer service for
2 days now and just can’t get any help.

I’ve had the same couch for the last 4 years that I bought at AFW and she’s still going strong. I am a HUGE college football fan and have hosted numerous parties in the Fall. I definitely have some “larger” friends that come over and plop down but the sofa has still maintained its integrity. I also purchased a cheap (I mean cheapest they had) bedroom set that is still going strong in my bedroom. I’ve moved both at least 4 times now and the worst thing that happened were a few nicks by the mover. All in all I’m pretty happy with my experience at AFW!

Wow! I know this is an older post but I just found it and again.. WOW.
Your comments on the couch springs hit home with me. I just hope yours did not stick through the FRONT of the couch like mine.

I am refreshed and admire the honesty of your post. You have touched on something that most people don’t realize.. quality DOES make a huge difference. The price may be good but the everyday consumer ends up paying more for their choice in the long run. Great open and honest review.
